I was born in Athens and grew up in a bilingual family, having Greek and German as my mother tongues. I also speak English very well. I studied at the German School of Athens.<\/p>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t

I studied Midwifery at University of Applied Health Sciences\u00a0<\/a>in Bochum, Germany. During my studies I did a five-month internship at birth centers (Geburtsh\u00e4user)\u00a0Geburtshaus von Anfang an<\/a>\u00a0in Vienna and the\u00a0Geburtshaus Schwabm\u00fchlhausen<\/a>\u00a0in Bavaria. I was trained in maternity hospitals\u00a0Marienhospital Gelsenkirchen<\/a>,\u00a0Leverkusen Hospital<\/a>\u00a0and in\u00a0St\u00e4dtisches Klinikum Bielefeld<\/a>I was introduced into community midwifery, participating in homebirths alongside other independent midwives like Teresa Angerer<\/a>,\u00a0Andrea Klinger<\/a>\u00a0and\u00a0Eleftheria Dimopoulou<\/a>.<\/p>

The title of my Bachelor thesis was \u201cWhich parameters influence pregnant women in Germany and Greece in their choice of birthplace? A quantitative cross-sectional study\u201d. I completed my studies by successfully passing the German state midwifery examination (Staatsexamen) and obtaining a Bachelor of Science in Midwifery.<\/p>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t

I worked in Hamburg for five years as an independent midwife, supporting births at home, in a birth center and in a maternity hospital. Together with three other midwives we founded the midwifery team \u201czuhause geb\u00e4ren<\/a>\u201d through which we took care of over 300 planned births at home. I was particularly dedicated to antenatal care and home births, because I believe that every person giving birth has the right to freely decide where and how they want to give birth to their child, provided that there are no health reasons that require special medical care. Midwifery care continued with home visits during the postnatal period<\/a>, which are subsidized by the German state (up to 36 visits for each family and for as long as needed!).<\/p>

I participated in\u00a0Quality Circles of Midwives in Germany<\/a>, a body ensuring the quality of services of independent midwives, with regular checks, creating networks of communication, exchange of knowledge and continuous education with fellow midwives, but also with doctors and maternity hospitals. There was constant communication with the public health service of Hamburg and thus the inclusion of home births in the digital registration of birth data for the more immediate issuance of the birth certificate was successfully completed. Through the \u201cChild benefit is easy<\/a>\" all families in Hamburg now have access to this service.<\/p>

My resources, in addition to my studies and professional experience, are a series of international guidelines, seminars and training courses within the framework of which I work.<\/p>

I am grateful for the knowledge and experiences I gained in Germany, because it is a country where midwives practice the full spectrum of their profession with great support from the National Health System.<\/p><\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div><\/section>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t

In 2020 I started the "Logos Maion<\/a>", the first Greek midwifery podcast, which has gained its own loyal audience.<\/p>

I translated the children's book "Lin and the secret of the cycle Book<\/a>\u201d (Oposito Editions) from German and I hope to contribute to a new generation of well-informed women who know and love their bodies and their boundaries. The book deals with the onset of puberty in girls, the first period and the magic of menstruation. (Article<\/a>)<\/p>

I am the exclusive representative of Silverette\u00ae - The original Silver Nursing Cups.<\/a>This is a unique medical device that utilizes the therapeutic properties of silver to relieve and heal nipples during breastfeeding.<\/p>

As a clinical instructor, I contributed to the education of midwifery students during their training in collaboration with Aretaeion Hospital and the Metropolitan College.<\/p>

I am a founding member of Association of Independent Midwives of Greece (EAMME)<\/a>, through which independent midwifery is highlighted and choices and human rights in childbirth are promoted.<\/p>

At the same time, I write informative articles<\/a> and I give interviews to Greek and German media regarding current issues in midwifery. On the respective page you can read my articles about frequent breastfeeding difficulties<\/a>, the planned cesarean section<\/a>\u00a0and home birth<\/a>.<\/p>

From 2022 to 2025 I contributed as a consultant and external partner to the establishment of The Birth Center<\/a>, the first independent natural childbirth center in Greece, promoting a more holistic and humane approach to birth. My responsibility included, among other things, writing the overall Quality Plan (Policies, Procedures, Documents and Information Leaflets), in collaboration with the relevant departments of the administration.<\/p><\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div><\/section>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t

In 2021 I returned to Greece and since then I have been working in Athens as an independent midwife, supporting women during pregnancy, childbirth, the postpartum period and during breastfeeding. I also travel individually to other regions of Greece to provide midwifery services, in collaboration with other midwives.<\/p>

I am available as mentor<\/a>, advisor<\/a> and expert on issues concerning the practice of midwifery as an autonomous profession, as well as the establishment and operation of natural childbirth centers.<\/p>
