The book by Simon Sinek \u201cStart With Why\u201d<\/a> inspired me to find my vision, or my WHYs. Additionally, my HOWs describe my values, the conditions, and the environments I create and need to flourish.\u00a0<\/p>

This framework is about a purpose bigger than me and I use it as a compass in every area of my life.<\/p>

  1. I want to make the world a better place.<\/li>
  2. Every person should be treated with respect and dignity.<\/li>
  3. The world would be a better place if everyone did what they love and followed their calling.<\/li>
  4. I believe in the power, resource and potential of human connection and bonding.<\/li>
  5. World peace begins with peace at birth.<\/li>
  6. When women are treated with respect at birth, our society becomes healthier.<\/li>
  7. If we invest in women and midwives, we invest in a thriving future generation. It is important to educate future midwives well.<\/li>
  8. Midwifery is an autonomous, wise profession that keeps the balance between tradition and science.<\/li>
  9. Every woman has to have access to unbiased information, personalized options and healthcare professionals working in integrity.<\/li>
  10. Midwives and doctors need to work in partnership and mutual respect in order to achieve optimal outcomes for mothers, babies and families.<\/li>
  11. Breastfeeding is best for mother and baby.<\/li>
  12. Homebirth is a safe and resourceful option if the parents are well-informed and both want to do it, if both woman and baby are healthy, if it is supported by two well-trained midwives (and another lay birth supporter) and is integrated in the broader health care system.<\/li><\/ol>
